Who we are

Smash Cricket Group, trading as Smash360, is the responsible party for the personal information you give us on this site. That means we are the ones who decide what happens to it, and we are the ones you hold accountable for it.

What we ask you for

Only what we need to work out whether you are right for a coaching role, and how to get hold of you.

• Your name, mobile or WhatsApp number, and email address
• Your town and province, the languages you coach in, the age groups you are strongest with, and the days and times you are free
• How far you will travel, your current employment status, the highest level you played, your CSA coaching qualification, and anything you choose to tell us about your coaching
• Whether you have your own transport, whether you have a police clearance certificate, whether you are first aid certified, and how soon you could start

We also record a reference number, the date you applied, and where you came from if you arrived through a link with tracking on it.

We do not ask for your ID number, your bank details or a copy of your police clearance on this form. If you are offered a role, those come later and are handled separately.

We save your answers as you go

This one is worth being upfront about. The form has three steps, and we save what you have entered as soon as you finish step one. So if you give us your name, number and email and then stop, we still have those three things.

We do that because a half finished application from a good coach is still someone we would like to phone. If you would rather we did not keep it, email us and we will delete it.

Your browser also keeps a copy on your own device so you can come back and finish later on the same phone. That copy never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.

What we do with it

• Read your application and decide whether to take it further
• Contact you by phone, WhatsApp or email about coaching work with us
• Work out which of our academies and age groups you would fit
• Come back to you when a group opens up near you

That is the whole list. We do not sell your information, we do not share it with anyone for marketing, and we do not use it to advertise to you.

Who sees it

The people at Smash360 who make coaching appointments, and nobody else.

It is stored on servers run by our hosting and database providers, who hold it on our behalf and are not allowed to use it for anything of their own.

Your application is stored outside South Africa. It sits in a database run by our provider Supabase, on Amazon Web Services in Oregon in the United States. POPIA allows personal information to leave the country where the party receiving it is bound by rules that protect it in a way comparable to our own law, and that is the basis we rely on.

How long we keep it

If we take you on, your application becomes part of your employment record and is kept for as long as the law requires us to keep employment records.

If we do not take you on, we keep your application for 24 months and then delete it. We hold it that long because coaching groups open up unpredictably, and someone we could not place this season is often exactly who we need next season.

You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time, and we will.

Keeping it safe

Applications are stored in a database that the public cannot read. The website itself has no ability to read applications back, only to add them. Access is limited to the people who need it.

We also check how many submissions come from a network at once, to stop automated abuse. That check happens in memory as it goes and is not stored.

No system is perfect. If something ever goes wrong with your information, we will tell you and we will tell the Information Regulator, as POPIA requires.

What you can ask us to do

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act you have the right to:

• Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy of it
• Have anything wrong corrected
• Have it deleted, or ask us to stop using it
• Object to us using it, including withdrawing your consent
• Complain to the Information Regulator if you are not happy with how we responded

Email info@smashcricket.co.za and we will come back to you. Asking us to delete your application means we can no longer consider you for a role, so we will confirm that is what you want before we do it.

Cookies

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies on this page. The only thing stored on your device is your own half finished application, so you can pick it up where you left off.

If this changes

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If it is a change that actually affects you, we will tell you directly rather than leaving you to spot it.
